One person was killed and another was injured in a shooting Fridayafternoon in Cross Plains, according to the Dane County Sheriff's Department.
Severalshots were fired at an apartment building in the 2500 block of ValleyStreet. One of the victims died at the scene. The other victim wastaken by helicopter to UW Hospital with serious injuries. Police saythey were targeted by the shooter.
The shooter has beenidentified as Charles E. Witzel, Jr. Heis described as six feet tall, 180 pounds with long brown hair and blueeyes.
Witzel's vehicle was spotted in Middleton, but he was nowhere to be found. Police say he also has ties to Arena andLoganville.
If you spot him, you're asked to call 911. He is considered armed and dangerous.
