The Chicago Cubs jumped all over Milwaukee Brewers starter Jeff Suppan, scoring six-times in the first inning, on their way to a 19-5 win over the Brewers at Wrigley Field on Wednesday night.
Cubs catcher Geovany Soto clubbed a pair of three-run homers to lead the Cubs to their highest offensive output since they put 21 runs up on the Dodgers seven years ago.
Five Brewers pitchers gave up 17 hits and 9 walks in the loss. Suppan was tagged for a career-high 11 runs in 3 2/3 innings before giving way to the bullpen.
Ryan Dempster picked up the win for the Cubs, improving to 4-0.
Derrick Turnbow got another shot for the Brewers as Ned Yost just needed somebody to come in and soak up innings. Turnbow gave up 6 runs on 4 hits and recorded just two outs. Turnbow's ERA has balooned to 15.63.
The two teams split the first two games of the series with the finale coming up today. Yovani Gallardo goes for the Brewers and Carlos Zambrano for the Cubs.
