A waiver petition has been filed in Waupaca County Circuit Court, in a school gun case from earlier this week. Juvenile charges were filed Thursday against a 16 year-old Waupaca girl who allegedly brought a 40-caliber handgun to the high school on Tuesday. She faces counts of possession of a weapon in a school zone, being a juvenile in possession of a dangerous weapon, and carrying a concealed weapon. Officials in the district attorney’s office say a waiver petition to have the case moved to adult court has been filed, but it has not yet been scheduled.

The girl allegedly had the gun in her handbag at school Tuesday, and showed it to a friend after school. Investigators say the girl told them she brought the weapon to school to scare some students who were harassing her. Waupaca Police Chief Tim Goke says the weapon was loaded when officers recovered it on Wednesday. The teen remains in custody.
