Three people were killed in a two car crash Sunday evening near DeForest.
According to the Dane County Sheriff's Office:
A car traveling east on Highway V near Highway I attempted to make a U-turn in front of a car traveling west. The westbound vehicle had no time to react and hit the car. Three people inside the eastbound vehicle died at the scene. The dead include two adults and an infant, who was the only one restrained in the car. The driver of the westbound car was taken to UW Hospital with serious injuries. He was wearing a seatbelt.
The names, ages, and hometowns of the deceased have not been released.
Alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the crash. The incident is still under investigation.
UPDATE AT 11:30 AM: The Dane County Coroner's office has released the names of the three fatalities from a crash on CTH V last evening. They are identified as: 24 year-old Cristhian de Jesus Rosado-Lopez, 36 year-old Veronia Gomez and 9 month-old Christhian Melchor-Gomez. The adults were not wearing safety restraints, but the infant was secured in a child safety seat.
