The Milwaukee Brewers have announced that Doug Davis will make a rehabilitation start for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers.  Davis will start Wednesday’s 12:05pm game against the Quad City River Bandits.

Davis hasn’t made a Major League start since May 10.  He’s been on the disabled list since doctors diagnosed him with pericarditis, an inflammation of the membrane surrounding the heart, in mid-May.  Davis was 1-4 with a 7.56 ERA in seven starts for the Brewers before going on the DL.

Davis has made a pair of rehabilitation starts for the Nashville Sounds, the Triple-A affiliate of the Brewers.  In his last start on June 24, Davis pitched five shutout innings, allowed two hits, struck out 9 and picked up the win against the Memphis Redbirds.

Davis could join the Brewers following Wednesday’s start if all goes well.  Just who he replaces in the rotation remains to be seen.  Brewers manager Ken Macha was asked what Davis’ return means for Chris Narveson and Manny Parra.
