Saturday is a day for the Madison community remember a young woman whose killer has not yet been apprehended. The first annual Brittany Zimmerman Memorial 5K Run and Walk will take place on the UW Madison campus.
UW Madison Police Officer Erik Pearce it’s a way to support a great cause, “It’s really near and dear to my heart. I mean, most people remember back in 2008 when Brittany was tragically taken from the community, it really was a senseless crime, and still to this date it is unsolved. We’d like to raise some money to increase Brittany’s reward fund. We really want to bring some closure to this case and bring some closure for the family.”
The Zimmerman family will be at the finish line to greet participants. The race starts at 9:00 Saturday at Library Mall on the UW Campus.
