A Ohio crackdown on gambling has led to penalties against a Wisconsin business. De Pere-based 8 Line Supply and its president, 34-year-old president Erin Nelson, were convicted Thursday of 8 charges that included misdemeanor gambling, money laundering, and possessing criminal tools, after pleading guilty to illegally selling 23,000 video slot machines and parts, some $2.7 million worth, to businesses across the Buckeye State.

“They clearly knew that these were games of chance, and they had to know that selling them into Ohio was illegal,” said Cuyahoga County Assistant Prosecutor Chris Schroeder. “And if they didn’t it’s their responsibility to know.” Schroeder said they were assisted by the Wisconsin DOJ and is the first time an out-of-state company was prosecuted for violating Ohio’s gambling laws.
