Another use of deadly force by Dane County deputies. It followed a domestic disturbance call on Stoughton’s south side about 7:30 PM Wednesday. A a woman called 911 asking that her drunk husband be removed from their home. Deputies say the man came out of his garage carrying a shotgun. They fired non-lethal rounds at him and he opened fire, prompting the deadly response. Med-flight doctors pronounced the man dead at the scene. His name hasn’t been released. None of the deputies were hurt, but two of them were involved in other recent shootings. There was a similar standoff last week in McFarland, and before that, a traffic stop near Stoughton, in which the driver committed suicide.
