Hunter concerns over Chronic Wasting Disease have apparently waned.

It's been six years since CWD first turned up in deer killed near Mount Horeb, and the Department of Natural Resources' Greg Matthews says are showing fewer concerns about its presence.

Initially, Matthews says hunters were quite spooked, even though it appears CWD can't be passed on to those who eat infected venison. He says fewer hunters are having their deer tested for the disease.

However, Matthews says the World Health Organization still recommends deer from CWD zones get tested.
