After receiving a number of large military contracts, the Oshkosh Corporation welcomed a high profile visitor Thursday.
U.S. Defense Secretary Robert Gates stopped by the Oshkosh facility to see new armored vehicles being built, and to thank employees for their hard work.
He told the workers that they play an important role in keeping soldiers safe, by making vehicles that save lives and give soldiers the tools they need to come home safely.
The Pentagon has ordered more than 6,200 armored vehicles from the Oshkosh Corporation since June, as part of a contract that’s worth more than $3.2 billion.
