A Green Bay lawmaker wants Governor-elect Scott Walker to give any leftover money from the upcoming inauguration festivities to charity.
Democratic state Senator Dave Hansen says that’s what Governor Doyle did after his two inaugurations, donating over a half million dollars to the Boys and Girls Club. However, he says Walker plans to send leftover cash to the state Republican Party and his own campaign fund.
Hansen says places such as food pantries would be a better option for using the extra money, because thousands of Wisconsin families are struggling.
No taxpayer money goes toward the ritzy inaugural ball and surrounding events, so the winning candidate has to raise money to cover the costs.
