The Democratic National Convention kicks into high gear today in Charlotte, North Carolina, as the party gets set to make the case for another four year term for President Barack Obama.
Wisconsin Democrats are on the ground for the event, and state Party Chairman Mike Tate says he’s looking forward to an exciting week. Delegates from the state will hear from a number of big names in Wisconsin politics, including outgoing US Senator Herb Kohl (D-WI) and Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin.
Tate says he expects the party to largely focus on the positives of President Obama’s first four years of office, although he expects some responses to what he calls the many “blatantly false” things said during last week’s Republican National Convention in Tampa.
While Wisconsin Republicans played a major role in their convention last week, only one Democratic leader from the Badger State is addressing delegates this week. Congresswoman Tammy Baldwin, who is running for Senator Kohl’s seat, is scheduled to speak in prime time later this week.
