Wisconsin Democrats have a new headquarters, and a confident attitude. Democratic Party of Wisconsin chair Joe Wineke says Democrats have reason to be confident at the state and national level. Wineke, at the grand opening of DPW's new headquarters in Madison Tuesday, said he's not worried about Democrats overreaching. "We have a president in Barack Obama, a Senate and a Congress that are controlled by Democrats, a governor in Jim Doyle, and a legislature that's controlled by Democrats, that have one issue on their minds, and that is fixing the mess that was left by the Bush administration," said Wineke.

"The proof will be in the pudding, when we help get this country and this world back on a sound economic footing," Wineke said. "The Rush Limbaughs of this world, who want to just ask us to fail, they're no relating to the American people." Wineke said he actually feels sorry for Republican National Committee chairman, Michael Steele. "It's real clear that the Republican Party is in disarray. What I'm seeing happening with the Republican Party is, there is no message."

Winekie is bullish on his party's chances to pick up additional seats in the legislature, where Democrats are in control of both chambers for the first time in years. "In the Senate we may be in a protect mode, where we're trying to protect what we have, our eighteen votes, and maybe get one," he said. "In the Assembly, there's five or six seats that we believe we can win."

Wineke has served two terms as DPW chair and is not seeking reelection to the post.
