A Wood County Sheriff’s Deputy is recovering after being attacked by dogs. It happened just after 5:00 p.m Thursday in Pittsville. Sheriff Tom Reichert said the deputy initiated a traffic stop, when the driver, 48-year-old Cora Fuller, ran from her vehicle and into her home. Fuller eventually did come out, and when the officer attempted to arrest her, two pit bulls came running from the house.

“These dogs saw the deputy and the woman in close quarters, involved in a bit of a scuffle, and attacked the deputy,” Reichert said. The deputy, whose name has not been released, was bitten several times, but was able to get two shots off–injuring both dogs, before fleeing to his squad car for safety. The deputy was treated for multiple dogs bites. Fuller was arrested on suspicion of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, her fourth offense. One of the dogs was euthanized, the other is recovering.
