A Madison developer apparently has interest in buying some well known state buildings. An Associated Press report reveals Terrence Wall wrote a letter to Governor Scott Walker, expressing interest in buying several state office buildings.
“To my knowledge, I don’t know that anything’s been done with Terrence Wall in that regard,” said Walker during a Thursday stop at Lambeau Field. “He sent a letter just like people send letters all the time, but to my knowledge there hasn’t been any direct correspondence with him.”

The latest state budget includes a provision from the governor, allowing no-bid sales of state properties. Walker said the “primary interest” is in selling state-run power plants to utilities.
Representative John Nygren co-chairs the Joint Finance Committee, which would have oversight of any sale. “I don’t think anything should ever be completely off the table. If T. Wall or anybody steps forward with a knock your socks off kind of deal, that returns a significant windfall to the state over the value of the facility, then we should consider it.”
Buildings mentioned by Wall include the state Department of Transportation and state Crime Lab on Madison’s West side, and the downtown Department of Administration building.
Wall has been a significant political contributor, mostly to Republican candidates including the governor. He was also briefly a GOP candidate for U.S. Senate in 2010.
