What message does Wisconsin send to the rest of the country? That's a question State Representative Steve Wieckert is hoping the creation of a Wisconsin brand can answer.
The Appleton Republican is sponsoring a bill that directs the Department of Administration to study the costs and benefits of creating a branding image for Wisconsin. Wieckert believes a Wisconsin brand will help the state gain more exposure in many areas, including tourism and in attracting new business to the state
The concept is something several state agencies already use, and the Department of Tourism is working on a branding plan of its own. However, Wieckert wants the state to take a unified approach to the concept.
A legislative committee approved the bill this week and it now goes to the full Assembly.
