A 40-year-old man is missing after he and two others jumped 60 feet off the Highway 60 Bridge into the Wisconsin River. It happened on the Prairie Du Sac Bridge that splits Sauk and Columbia Counties around 7:30 Monday night. Sauk County’s Dive Team, Prairie Du Sac Water Rescue and Sauk City Fire assisted in the search that ended just after midnight and resumed Tuesday morning. The other two jumpers are safe. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the incident.

A body found floating in Lake Mendota about a mile off of Governor’s Island Sunday night, has been identified. The Dane County Coroner’s Office confirms that it was 30-year-old Sarah Carpenter of Madison, who went missing June 29th while swimming in the area. A caller to the Dane County 911 center reported the body at about 6:00 p.m. The case is still under investigation but autopsy findings are consistent with fresh water drowning.
