The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources is rebooting how it issues licenses and permits to residents, implementing the new Go Wild system, to replace the Automated License Issuance System which has been in place for more than 15 years.

Mark Rappe, of DNR’s bureau of customer and outreach services, says the new 24/7 online licensing sales system offers numerous advantages — including offering the option for outdoors enthusiasts to no longer carry around paper licences and permits. DNR staff who interact with hunters, anglers and other outdoor enthusiasts will also know who has what.

“Our warden force will have access to those electronic records,” Rappe said. A new personal conservation card is also available, for a fee, showing all the permits and licences held by an individual.

The website — GoWild.WI.Gov — will be fully phased in by early March.
