Drinking and riding a snowmobile can often lead to tragedy. The Department of Natural Resources says if you’re going to drink, you cannot ride after. “That’s going to end in tragedy, not only for you, but for your family and friends,” says DNR snowmobile administrator Gary Eddy. Seventeen snowmobilers died in Wisconsin last winter. More than three-quarters of the accidents involved alcohol. Sixty-five percent of the accidents were speed related. Nearly half of the fatalities occurred at night.
