Wisconsin high school students are being encouraged to submit their designs for what they think the state’s next annual state park sticker should look like. The annual contest has students designing the stickers that residents can buy to get their vehicles into Wisconsin’s state parks.
State Department of Natural Resources spokesman Paul Holtan says they’re hoping that kids can get out into nature to get their inspiration. “Get some ideas from recreating out in our state parks, with many opportunities we have from hiking and mountain biking, kayaking. There’s just so many activities that students could get involved with that they could use for inspiration for the design contest.”
The designs need to be bold and recognizable. Holtan says the best are always those that are easy to follow. “When you get into a complex design, you lose that detail when you try to reduce that down to the size of an admission sticker that goes onto a windshield.”
Last year’s winner was a blue, white and black image of a number of hikers with a forest backdrop, designed by Rachael Wirth, a senior at Appleton North High School.
Entries are due on April 13th.
