A new study looks at the issue of youths in the adult criminal justice system. The Centers for Disease Control looked at the effectiveness of trying 17 year olds as as adults, which since 1995 has been the case here in Wisconsin. Wendy Henderson with the Wisconsin Council on Children and Families says the CDC study questions the effectiveness of that, as a crime deterrence strategy, and these CDC findings suggest Wisconsin's legislature may want to revisit the issue.
