The state Medical Examining Board is disciplining nine physicians for writing fake sick notes during the Capitol protests earlier this year.

The Board says seven doctors are receiving formal reprimands for writing notes last February, which were used to help protesters provide an excuse for missing work during demonstrations over the governor’s collective bargaining bill. The Board says an investigation found the physicians had no records to prove what kind of examinations they conducted before writing the medical excuses.

Each of the physicians was also ordered to take courses in medical record keeping and the Board noted in its decision that several have faced additional disciplinary action from their employers.

Administrative warnings were also issued for two other physicians, informing them that similar behavior in the future could result in further action.
