A disturbing story of animal abuse has triggered responses of anger and outrage around the country. Sean Janas of Wausau is jailed, charged with slowly poisoning her boyfriend’s dog with pills, bleach and drain cleaner, and then making diary entries explaining the pleasure she got from watching the lab-shepherd mix suffer and die.
Since the story broke, it has become a topic of social media and blog entries and has prompted a Tomahawk woman to start an online petition at Change.org asking Marathon County’s judge and prosecutor to seek the maximum allowable punishment. That petition received over 300 signatures in its first 24 hours from all over the country. The 20 year-old Janas could get over five years and $30,000 in fines if convicted. She’ll be back in court October 31st.
