Highway work zones shouldn't be a major problem for most holiday weekend travelers. Officials with the Department of Transportation say most road construction will be suspended this weekend for most areas. DOT Project Development Coordinator Don Miller says major roadways should be cleared off.

However, Miller says some areas will remain a problem though. Those include I-90 at LaCrosse, I-43 east of Beloit, and Madison's "Beltline Highway."

Even if work is suspended, drivers still need to remain alert when approaching construction zones. Miller says they may still need to be ready to slow down as the pavement changes or lanes shift. Also, if workers aren't present, work zone speed limits will still be in effect as well.
