Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan (R-WI) says the bailout bill being considered on Capitol Hill today isn't something lawmakers want to vote on. However, he says something has to be done to protect the public because their savings are at risk.

The plan would give the Treasury Department up to $700 billion to buy bad debt from banks. It's feared the collapsing mortgage market will lead to a credit freeze.

Despite adding additional consumer protections over the weekend, Ryan says he still has serious concerns about the plan.

If the bill passes, it goes to the Senate and then to President Bush, who gave a strong push for the plan this morning.
