Speaking at Rib Mountain Elementary school in Wausau on Wednesday, Governor Jim Doyle denied claims made by a government watchdog group, the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign, that donations from family and friends of Florida Power and Light officials changed his stance on nuclear power in Wisconsin. He said the change came after a state study on global warming showed that nuclear power was a viable option. "One of those recommendations made sense to me," Doyle said. "Which is that we should explore nuclear power, not to say no to it absolutely, which is the current law is." Florida Power and Light owns and operates the Point Beach nuclear plant in Two Rivers.
