The TV ads feature actor and Parkinson's Disease sufferer Michael J. Fox advocating pro-embryonic stem cell research candidates, like Governor Jim Doyle. The Governor is defending the ad, which some say exploits the disease. Doyle says it's unbelievable that people would attack someone suffering from the disease.
Conservative talk show host Rush Limbaugh is among those questioning the ad, saying Fox exaggerated his condition. Doyle says people shouldn't be subject to that kind of attack simply because they step forward to defend research that could help them.
Fox has admitted before to not taking his medication prior to public appearances, to help show the impacts of Parkinson's. Doyle, who lost his mother to the disease, says those critical of the ad show what's wrong with this nation. Similar ads are also running in Missouri and Maryland.
