Governor Jim Doyle stopped in Wausau Monday, as part of his statewide tour attacking the Republican version of the state budget. But Republicans think he's way off base. Doyle , who has made similar stops around the state, said the Republican-passed budget does not adequately fund public safety, education and health care. "This is a fiscally irrepsonsible budget, and one that does not uphold our values," said Doyle, who was flanked by police officers, firefighters and college students. But Rep. Jerry Petrowski (R-Marathon) called Doyle's statements "partisan rhetoric."
