Governor Doyle says Wisconsin is leading the nation in preparing for bird flu and other potential disasters. Nearly five years after the September 11th terrorist attacks, Governor Jim Doyle says Wisconsin has taken many steps forward in becoming ready to deal with disaster. He says we're as ready as we can be.
The state's Homeland Security Council on Friday presented Doyle with a report on efforts to prepare the state for any natural or man-made disaster. Still, Doyle warned against becoming complacent with current efforts, urging the state to continue moving ahead in preparing for any type of disaster that may hit us. Among the improvements made in the state are increased communications between emergency responders, ongoing training, and evacuation plans for all 72 Wisconsin Counties. Doyle says the efforts honor those killed on 9-11.
