Wisconsin's Governor would like to see the Badger Care Plus program broadened. In Woodruff Thursday Governor Jim Doyle said BadgerCare Plus, which was rolled out earlier this year, had a target of ensuring access to insurance for all children in the state.

Doyle said he would like to move to the next stage. "Early next year, we hope to roll out the second stage of BadgerCare Plus," said Doyle, who explained how an unfair situation can develop for two people in the same low income job who would not be able to afford health insurance. "One of them has minor children. That person, not only does their children have BadgerCare, but the parents have coverage, and the person working next to them doesn't have minor children, and really doesn't have access to any kind of health care in the state."

Doyle said if we can get people covered in good plans, we will see better prevention of health problems. Doyle hosted a health forum at Howard Young Health Care in Woodruff as part of his "Up North" tour.
