Governor Jim Doyle says, despite the absence of water at Lake Delton, people are still enjoying the entertainment that is the Wisconsin Dells.

"There's a lot going on. People are really enjoying the Wisconsin Dells right now. You can see them in the water parks and you can see them playing golf."

Engineers are working right now, assessing the situation in the Lake Delton area, to come up with a long-term plan to restore the lake. Until then, the Governor suggests people continue to support the area, so that businesses will be able to survive to next year.

Although it is kind of difficult to support the Dells when you can't exactly travel on the roadways.

"Uh, that is true. And we hope it's a contradiction that lasts only for a day."

Doyle says everyone agrees that safety is number one, and as of Friday afternoon, the roads were in no condition for driving.

"Our number one concern right now is safety of people and those roads had to be closed."

Tourism officials say over 90% of the Dells is open for business, but for now? …

"It's probably best that you not go on those roads … you couldn't go on those roads even if you wanted to."

With ever-changing conditions, vacationers should keep an eye on road conditions before traveling
