Governor Jim Doyle says he's continuing to advocate for Lake Delton homeowners. In Washington, D.C. the governor has been talking with FEMA officials about Wiscosnin homeowners who were hardest hit by flooding. "The houses that remain underwater, we are interested, and I've been requesting from FEMA . . . that these houses be eligible for the buyout, so we can help those families move forward," Doyle says.

FEMA has so far refused to buy out the five Lake Delton homeowners outright, so Doyle has requested that the state DOT condemn their properties and compensate them, for a total of two million dollars. Doyle also wants the feds to pay for ninety percent of flood repairs , rather than the more usual seventy five percent: "you can just do the math on what that means (to local governments), by splitting that up ninety/ten or seventy-five/twenty-five."
