As students head back to class for the fall, Governor Jim Doyle says Wisconsin schools are doing a good job at providing a quality education.

The Governor visited students at a Madison elementary school Wednesday, where he also highlighted the $179 million-dollars the state is receiving under the recent federal Education Jobs Fund. Doyle says the money is making sure schools don’t suffer too much from the recession by being able to retain quality staff in the classroom.

Doyle admits schools are facing some difficult decisions and trying to do more with less money this year. However, he says Wisconsin is not facing the deep cuts and massive layoffs that public schools in other states are dealing with right now.

The Governor says everyone has had to make sacrifices, but Wisconsin students still have access to teachers that can provide the education they need for the future.
