dpilogoForty-four percent of public school districts will receive an increase in general state aid this year. According to the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, the total amount of statewide aid is nearly the same as a year ago – almost $4.5 billion. Of the state’s 186 public school districts, 424 are getting more.

Milwaukee, the state’s largest district, is getting a .06 of a percent increase in its state assistance. Spooner has the largest loss, at 29 percent.

Final amounts will be reduced later for districts that lose students to private voucher schools and independent charter schools. State funds for specific educational categories will also be determined later.
