Wisconsin students could soon be getting lessons in how to deal with bullies. The Department of Public Instruction this week released a new curriculum for schools interested in teaching kids how to handle a bully.

Steve Fernan, Assistant Director of Student Services with DPI, says the program is set up to offer a core group of lessons that teach students how to avoid being victimized. Fernan says the suggested curriculum focuses on training kids how to identify and react to bullies.

Teachers will be trained on the voluntary curriculum in the next few months. Officials hope to have courses based on the guide in schools by next fall.
