The Democratic Party of Wisconsin has filed a complaint against a GOP candidate for governor over an annual motorcycle ride across the state.
Every year, Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker takes off his Harley Davidson motorcycle to promote tourism in Southeastern Wisconsin. However, a complaint filed with the Government Accountability Board Thursday by DPW claims it’s nothing more than a taxpayer funded campaign event in Walker’s bid to be governor.
Walker is currently seeking the Republican nomination, and his trip in May wrapped up with him returning to the state GOP convention.
The complaint from DPW also alleges Walker failed to report support for the trip from AirTran Airlines as a campaign contribution.
Walker has repeatedly defended the annual trip, saying there’s nothing political about it.
