Green Bay Packers wide receiver Donald Driver heads into Sunday’s game against the New England Patriots 157 yards shy of James Lofton’s career franchise receiving yardage record.

Lofton stands at 9,656 career receiving yards, while Driver is closing in with 9,499 yards.  Breaking the record would obviously mean a lot to Driver.

Driver has already surpassed Sterling Sharpe in 2009 to become the franchise’s all-time leader in receptions.  Driver currently has 687 career receptions.  Sharpe tallied 595 receptions during his playing days with the Packers.

Driver may not break the mark this weekend against New England.  In fact, considering his role with the team, it’s not likely.  But he does have 3-games left this season to reach the milestone.

Driver is no longer the #1 receiver in Green Bay.  Some would argue that he’s no longer #2 either.  Driver said yesterday that he’s still comfortable with where he’s at.
