A jury convicted an Appleton attorney, on a series of sexual assault charges. David Dudas was on trial, on accusations that he assaulted and beat his wife, over the last two years. He was found guilty on 30 of the 31 counts against him. They ranged from sexual assault, to battery and suffocation, and strangulation. Prosecutors say Dudas, 49, videotaped the assaults, and his wife reported what was happening, after a particularly violent night. Dudas’s attorney says the incidents were consensual, and the two were into violent sex acts.
The trial featured graphic evidence, with difficult questions regarding the issue of consent between spouses. Jurors heard testimony from friends and family members, hospital personnel and police officers. Sentencing has been scheduled for 9:30 a.m. July 17. A presentencing investigation was requested. Dudas was taken into custody and his bail was revoked.
