Officials with the Experimental Aircraft Association are filing an appeal in federal court, after the Federal Aviation Administration sent the organization a $450,000 bill for staffing air traffic controllers during the upcoming AirVenture show.
EAA Spokesman Dick Knapinski says they already cut a check for half of that amount for a down payment. However, he says the organization does not believe the FAA followed the rules of providing the normal notice and comment period that’s required when making sequestration-related cuts.
