Preliminary tests in Madison show that thousands of blackbirds which fell from the sky in Arkansas died from blunt-force injuries. The National Wildlife Health Center in Madison released a report Wednesday. It seems to support a theory that the birds were spooked by New Year’s Eve fireworks, and fell out-of-control into homes, vehicles, and each other before falling to their deaths.
Up to 5,000 birds fell in the town of Beebe in central Arkansas. One hit a police vehicle, and another struck a woman who was walking her dog.
Fish-and-game officials in Arkansas said the birds not have any pesticide contamination. They’re still waiting for lab results to see if other toxins might have been responsible.
The Arkansas incident and recent discoveries of mass bird and animal deaths have given rise to theories including a coming apocalypse.
