Superior Mayor Bruce Hagen resigned on Tuesday and was then appointed as interim Mayor by the Common Council at a special meeting.

Originally, Hagen was planning to resign in April of next year, but this action will allow for an election for a new mayor to be held in April during the scheduled spring election. A seamless transition would then be made between Hagen and the newly elected mayor.

The city will save about $35,000 by not having to conduct a special election for mayor.
