A plane headed to Minneapolis had to return to Milwaukee  for an emergency landing. Northwest Airlines said a tire blew out on the airliner that was taking off from Mitchell International Airport to Minneapolis. The DC-950 made it in the air but it turned around and made an emergency landing after it started shaking about 6:45 Monday evening.

There were 119 passengers on Flight 796. One was taken to a hospital for an apparent medical condition, and Northwest spokesman Paul Skrbec said the rest were booked onto another flight. He said the airline was inspecting the aircraft last night, and was investigating the incident.

One passenger told a Milwaukee TV station there was a bad vibration upon take-off and about 15 minutes later, the pilot told them there were engine problems. Others said they were told an engine stalled after they were in the air.
