A county emergency management director in northern Wisconsin has been arrested on suspicion of child pornography. The Shawano County Sheriff’s Department confirms that Steven Haskell was jailed Sunday by the Wisconsin’s Department of Criminal Investigation after allegations surfaced involving misuse of county computers assigned to him.

According to a press release, the sheriff’s department was made aware of the allegations on September 14. Over the weekend, county officials investigated a violation of county policy. County officials then turned over evidence to the DCI.

The sheriff’s department would not comment further on the matter, directing any questions to the DCI. DOJ spokeswoman Dana Brueck says they do not comment on ongoing investigations. Haskell has worked as the county’s emergency management director for about 7 years.
