President Bush is expected to sign a new energy bill. The House of Representatives Tuesday approved an energy bill to increase the fuel efficiency of cars and trucks for the first time since 1975, boost production of ethanol and cut energy use in light bulbs and appliances.

Still, La Crosse Democrat Ron Kind concedes Democrats did not get all they wanted, including rollback of an eighteen billion dollar tax break to big oil, and a renewables portfolio for the nation's utilities. Kind still hopes those issues can be addressed in separate legislation.
