The Travel Wisconsin fall color report is now online with a new design and a nice large state map, just in time for this fall travel season. “We’re making it more in that social media vein, where people can upload their own photos now. Before it was just destinations that were doing that, now you as a traveler can upload a photo, you can comment or rate other people’s photos. We’re trying to make it more interactive.”
Lisa Marshall with the state Tourism Department says not only can you have input at TravelWisconsin.com, your smart phone can finally access the information on the newly-enhanced website. “Now you’ll be able to see the fall color report on a mobile device. That way you can be driving any where in the state and look and find (the information) and head right to where the best color is.”
There are about 100 reporters located in all 72 counties adding local information to the site every Thursday so visitors to the site have the most current conditions heading out to the weekend. The fall color report can be very helpful to outdoor lovers looking for a scenic getaway, especially with the unpredictable changes in fall foliage due to this year’s drought, floods, and wind.
TravelWisconsin.com also has links to local fall activities, dining, and lodging. The autumn season has the second biggest economic impact to Wisconsin’s tourism industry. In 2010, it generated $3 billion. In addition to the website, visitors can access the fall color report on their mobile devices, and they can sign up for reports via email.
