The Jefferson County Fair Park was part of the flood relief effort as a staging ground for volunteer efforts, but now it's offering a different kind of relief with this week's County Fair .
Gail Zastrow, the fair's Administrative Secretary, says the park was never flooded but the fair canceled certain events to limit heavy truck traffic in an area plagued with road closures. However the main routes all opened up in recent days. All the normal exhibits, live music and tractor and truck pulls that locals have come to expect are there.
Zastrow says this year's fair, opening Wednesday, provides enjoyment amid the flood weary region.
"Right now we're hoping that everyone has the opportunity to step back, take a deep breath and have some fun"
