It’s just two months out from Farm Technology Days in Portage County and organizers are looking for more volunteers.

Convention and Visitors Bureau marketing director Melissa Sabel says they’re expecting to need over 1000 volunteers to make sure the event runs smoothly. “I don’t think that we’ll ever feel comfortable to say that we’re completely full. There’s definitely room for volunteers yet to come forward.”

Those volunteers will be doing everything from directing traffic, parking assistance and running booths at the event. Sabel says the good news is a number of local and regional groups are already committed. “There’s a number of groups and volunteers that have stepped forward at this point, but just want to make sure we can put together a great event, and volunteers are part of that equation.”

The event will be hosted just outside of Stevens Point August 12 through the 14th in 2014. Blue Top Farms and Feltz Family Farms are the co-hosts, and over 400 acres of farmland will be turned into convention grounds for the event that draws 600 exhibitors from around the world.
