Janesville police are investigating a domestic shooting that left one woman dead.
The quiet of a Wednesday morning in Janesville's fourth ward was disrupted Wednesday morning with sound of gunshots. One neighbor says he left his house to investigate the sound, and saw someone on a cell phone and a body on a porch. The victim is described as a female, and Janesville Deputy Police Chief Dave Moore says she suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Moore says the suspect, identified by family and friends of the victim as 37-year-old Kyle Hicke of Milton, was spotted by a Rock County Sheriff's Deputy on Highway 51. Several squad cars followed the suspect into Beloit and then back into Janesville, where the suspect rammed two squad cars. Shortly afterwards, police ended the chase by ramming the suspect's vehicle.
The suspect is now in police custody.
Moore says the shooting is considered a domestic incident, but police have not yet released any names.
Friends and family identified the victim as 25-year-old Erica Ostenson. The Rock County Coroner's office has confirmed they are investigating a death, but did not confirm a name.
