The Green Bay Packers didn't play a perfect game but they did play well enough Sunday to go into the Metrodome and beat the Minnesota Vikings 23-16.
Brett Favre broke Dan Marino's record for career touchdown passes with his 421st in the first quarter, then tossed another in the 4th quarter as the Packers won their fourth out of the last five at the Metrodome. They improved to 4-0 with the win, one of two teams (Dallas Cowboys) in the NFC with perfect records.
Green Bay's 4-0 start is just its 9th in 87 years, with the last one coming in 1998. The Packers have now won 8-straight games, dating back to last season and under Mike McCarthy' they're 7-3 on the road.
The Packers abysmal run game got even worst after a 20 carry, 46-yard effort, good for 2.3 yards per carry. That's worse than the teams 2.7 yard per carry average the Packers had going in.
For now, the Packers can dismiss the run game issue because they're scoring points and winning. But as the weather turns cold inside Lambeau Field later in the season, the Packers will have to figure out something on the ground or winning will become far more difficult.
The 4-0 Packers host the 1-3 Chicago Bears in Sunday night football action at Lambeau Field this coming week.
