The Green Bay Packers trailed 10-7 at the half, but veteran quarterback Brett Favre completed 14-straight passes to start the second half and threw three touchdown strikes to help the Packers to a 35-13 win over the New York Giants. The Packers are off to a 2-0 start for the first time since 2001. They've won six straight, dating back to last season
Coach Mike McCarthy stuck to his running game into the early portion of the 3rd quarter before he had enough. At that state in the 3rd quarter, the Packers had run on first down 15 times and picked up a grand total of 15 yards.
That's when Favre took over, picking up his 149th career win as a starting quarter and moving him into first place all-time. His three touchdown passes gets him to within three of Dan Marino's all-time record. Favre finished 29 of 38 for 286 yards.
Favre spread the ball around, with 8 different receivers catching passes. Donald Driver, Donald Lee and Bubba Franks were on the receiving end of the touchdown catches.
The run game was a struggle again however. The Packers ran it 29 times for 83 yards, good for a 2.9 yard per carry average. DeShawn Wynn ran for two touchdowns, but if you take his 38 yard scoring run out of the average, they'd have 28 rushes for 45 yards, a 1.6 yard per carry average.
The 2-0 Packers return to Lambeau Field to host the San Diego Chargers this Sunday.
